List of publications on bureaucracy
Not a day passes that someone feels like writing a piece on how terrible bureaucracy is. Bureaucracy is an easy target, because we all feel held back by administrative work. Yet we forget the critical role bureaucracy plays in modern society.
We are a satirical initiative. But this does not mean we only make jokes. Far from it. Our core mission is to educate journalists, politicians and society at large of the value of bureaucracy and what we stand to lose, if we treat it like toxic waste.
What you can take from this list
The list summarizes a sparse but growing list of publications that offer a differentiated view on bureaucracy. The synopsis provided offer a quick glance in whether the article, podcast or TV show could be of interested to you. It is an invitation to dive deeper into:
- How bureaucracy and democracy are connected
- When bureaucracy adds value and when it does not
- How innovation is shaping the future of administration - and hence bureaucracy
The list is useful for researchers, journalists, policymakers — and anyone who’s tired of shallow and one-sided debates.
What you can contribute
There are certainly many valuable publications that we did not find yet. Please feel free to add them. Ideally with title, synopsis and link. We are also looking into more sources in particular in Italian, French and Spanish.
